Hi DocI have been reading info on Provillus a DHT blocker that is said to work for as long as i take it unlike other drugs (propecia) that stops working after 5-6 years. Do you know if this is true as i dont look forward to start losing hair again and be back were i started.Could you also tell me any info on Provillus tnat you have. thanks
This sounds like a load of bull. Claims like this are not only illegal (from an FDA point of view), but unethical as well. This opinion seems to be common from reviewers of the product on the web.

Hi Doc,
I bought Provillus now, after I read mixed reviews on it. Some say it work, others say it don’t.
Is there really a product that works, without a doubt? Or is all hairloss restore products money making scemes, because they know, that bald people will do anything to get their hair back. Provillus says they will refund a person, if they do not see any results, but some people say, they did not get their money back, after no results.
Can you please help me.
Thank you
Provillus is another “me too” generic product that rips off the ingredients of real hair loss products, produces a “watered-down” version of their own using substandard, cheaper ingredients, and then uses claims that go completely against the FDA’s regulations for dietary supplements. The company also makes lots of other cheap versions of weight loss, breast enlargement, and penis enlargement pills. Stay away from them, use a proven product.
Provillus Scam
Provillus is a scam, I bought their product becuase they said they had a money back guarantee. WRONG! good luck getting your money back, after I sent it back, they said first they didn’t receive it. When I gave them a delivery confirmation #, then suddenly they said “oh, the guarantee only applies to UNOPENED bottles, for a maximum of 1 bottle!” Funny how they leave that out of the fine print when they are selling your their product. Back to Propecia for me..
I started losing hair at the age of 20, and my mother found this product online. I tried it for about 3 months and did actually notice some hair growth where my hair was thining out. My hair stoped falling out as well. However, once i stoped using it, i had the same problem as before. Now, one of the main components is Saw Palmento, which you can actually buy anywhere and see if it works. I did take Saw Palmento prior to taking Provillus, but it did absolutely nothing.
Their return policy is horrible though. I was actually going to return it after 1 month because of some allergic reaction that, as i found out later, had nothing to do with taking Provillus. Their customer service sent me 4 pages of instructions and it just wasn’t worth my time to go through all of that.
Hi all… I just ordered a 6 month supply of this stuff. Hopefully, it will work for me. I have faith. I have hope.
does provillus work
If it works, I will tell you.
Provillus has worked for me . At 50 I have a great full head of hair better and thicker than I had at 30 .
Provillus is a ripp-off product.
The active ingredient in the topical solution is simply plain-old minoxidil which is the generic version of Rogaine. The minoxidil has been mixed with a weak, vinegar-like acid which the manufacturer’s claim improves the effectiveness; however, they have NO research or clinical studies to back up this claim. Also, you can buy generic minoxidil at any drug store for a lot less money.
The second part of the product is a dietary supplement which contains mostly B vitamins and Saw Palmetto (in the men’s version of the product). Neither B vitamins nor Saw Palmetto has ever been proven to help treat hair loss; also, you can buy generic supplements of these substances at any drug store for a lot less money. Saw Palmetto can interfere with sleep and cause upset stomach, and sometimes it causes sexual side effects in men–in some people it has interfered with the ability of their blood to clot, so taking it may increase the risk of bleeding. The product also contains Nettle root which can interefere with many common blood pressure medications.
The product is manufactured and marketed by Ultra Herbal LLC a company headquartered in the West Indies on the Island of Nevis in the country of St. Kitt and Nevis–it has subsidiaries and affiliates in various countries–apparently, at least one of its affiliates Ultra Herbal Ltd in the U.K. has had so many consumer complaints that the company itself claims on its provillus.com website that it severed its ties with its affiliate (which seems a little strange since parent companies usually setup, own and control their subsidiaries–and it makes the claim seem potentially like the parent company may be simply trying to walk away from responsibility by setting up various operating subsidiaries in different countries to shield itself from legal liability).
The U.S. distributor affiliate is based in Burbank, CA. Ultra Herbal sells all sorts of dietary supplements and a quick web search shows that there are least a few customers who claim they have never received their orders from Ultra Herbal, or the products have not worked.
I would caution anyone to steer away from companies like Ultra Herbal which claim to have a miracle new formula to treat hair loss. The main product in Provillus–which again is simply Minoxidil–may produce modest results for some people if used consistently for several months–AND if use continues permanently after the results. A few people respond very well to minoxidil and get better results than average. However, for many people minoxidil is too slow and the results–and remember some people NEVER see results–are too modest for it to be worth the money and effort. It seems Provillus is simply a repackaging of a product which has been out there for years, and for many people doesn’t give the results they want–this is why people continue to spend billions on alternative hair loss treatments.
If a product really effectively and quickly regrows hair for most people who use it, then trust me you will HEAR about it on the news. You want have to search the Internet desperately hoping to find some undiscovered “miracle.”
I would stay away from Provillus. If hair loss upsets you that much and you want real hair growing back in your head then you might consider hair transplant surgery–although it is expensive, usually takes more than one surgery, and like all surgeries, it has risks.
There is NO money-back. $10 fine per bottle returned. Read the snide company response to my request for a refund, starting from the bottom and reading up. Please forward to any interested parties. This product is a sham:

Comments: I’d like to know how to return a 6-month supply. The
product is not what I thought it would be.
Have to say guys, I had read a lot of sites singing the praises on Provillus. And I was concerned at the DUBIOUS origins of them (none of them were sites I had heard of before). But I stumbled across this site and read the information, all of which I was able to back up by checking the information on the provillus site. I was moments away from putting in my credit card. And you saved me. I think I will head to the drug store and by myself generic minoxidil and try that, rather than spending a MINT on a watered down version. Hell, after saving so much money, I may even buy a bottle of saw palmetto.
Thanks for keeping em honest guys!!
Drug Stores? We have chemists in the UK and I doubt they would keep generic monoxidil on their shelves and it would be too embarrassing to ask for it.
Are there no products like Provillus that actually ‘do work’?
Come on scientists & herbalists! It’s 2007 for God sake!!!Make a name for yourselves!!!
Big John
Nanogen is good for coverage, but comes off on the pillow which is a bit embarrassing. And because you always have to use it, if you forget to order it you are screwed!!
Hi is there any products really works for getting the lost hair or atleast stops the hair fall
I, too, almost succumbed to what I observed as highly sophisticated internet marketing subterfuge by the Provillus people! Their numerous, and obviously , varied websites.
Do yourself one quick favor and try to navigator through one of these “neutral and impartial” websites - try to move from page to page within the sites. It becomes rather obvious when there are hot buttons planted internally on web-pages which direct you to the Provillus sales page! So? From an alledgedly impartial and neutral website!?!
They even go so far as to capture the search engine tool -”Provillus Scams” directing you to BaldingTony. Try sending an e-mail response to his blog at the bottom of the page.
I do appreciate the posts on this site - thank you for saving me a bundle!!
Ultra Herbal just rips off other products, puts another name on it, then markets it as their own. Just another overseas company with a false guarantee (how can they say they have a 180 day guarantee when they will only refund 1 bottle AFTER a “restocking” fee!) very crooked, Provillus is a scam!
HERES THE TRUTH. PROVILLUS, PROCERIN, NU HAIR, SAW PALMETTO, SHEN MIN, ITS ALL A SCAM. ITS ALL SNAKE OIL. BUT THERE ARE 3 THINGS THAT WILL HELP.
1. PROPECIA- ONCE A DAY.
2. ROGAINE 5%- TWICCE A DAY.
3. NIZORAL SHAMPOO- 4 TIMES A WEEK.
THIS IS IT. THE FUTURE IS PROMISING HOWEVER
I have had similar luck in getting a refund of my order of Provillus.
I have been taking Saw Palmetto topically and orally, brushing my hair every night 300x and using Hairmax Lasor comb with great success.
BaldingTony, TrustMichael, and HonestJonathan are just a few of the multitude of shill sites claiming impartial product endorsement of Provillus. I think disTrustMichael and disHonestJonathan are more descriptive of the thrust of these “blogs” for which there is neither a home page nor other blogging happening. A WHOIS investigation reveals the dubious similar origins of these sites. A product has to be pretty bad to require this deceptive of an approach to market it. Caveat emptor!
p.s. Chris’s comments on Ultra Herbal are appreciated.
I have been using provillus for two months and have been seeing improvments. My hair is getting more smooth to the touch as well as thicker. I can see little hairs regrowing where hair was being lost before. I used rogain before provillus and stopped using it because I got no results except for an itchy scalp. I do understand that my hair loss was unnoticeable to all but I saw it, and now provillus is bringing it back there is not much more I can say. Try other products or dont everything works different for other people. Good luck to all and lets fight this hair loss problem together!
Yeah all those balding tony, honestjonathan sites are definitely scams…i do web design for a living so i know ways of finding out how sites were made, who made them, how they were made, and where they came from. I can 100% promise you, from looking at the sites source code, that it has provillus all over it. also, im 100% sure that “tony” and “jonathan” would NOT pay money to be listed at the top of Googles search results LOL!! Also, each of those sites are exactly the same layout, and they ALL have the same interstitial drop-in box linking to provillus! One of my favorites is on the baldingtony website. They have pictures of Tony….BALD!! hahaha…must be a real good product. You can obviously tell that those pictures were probably done professionally…Tony probably isnt a professional photographer with experience in photoshop for touching up images..
Started to say, Was ready to buy until I read the above, no good Bas—–, Would like to take honest Mike and give him a little back alley justice.
thanks, guess I will just shave what I have left and try the complete bald thing.
Larry
One thing that has always puzzled me about these 100% satisfaction advertisements hair loss etc., is that they never give a 100% return on your investment if the product does not work as represented. For instance, I can promise you the “fountain of youth” in a pill for only $49.95/month with a similar 100% money back claim and I can laugh all the way to the back to the bank with your money. All a scam artist has to do is to provide a “placebo” as the product and charge $18 -$25 as the shipping and handling portion of the costs. That is where the real money is made. The scam runs on the back of the pocketed shipping and handling costs, not the product itself. A manufacturer can give refunds back as fast as orders come in if they keep the shipping and handling funds. There are a few true 100% Money Back Guarantee out there. One that comes to mind is the Orick Vacuum Cleaner. (Note: I don’t sell or even own one but, I am familiar with their product and guarantee). In that instance the buyer gets a full purchase price, shipping and handling costs returned. Now that is standing behind a product! Let’s see one of these “hair restorer” advertisers provide the same backing for one of their products.
P.S. If you need to take out the named vacuum cleaner before posting, please do.
This Provillus is a big scam, never refunds money, stay away from them. good luck
If you go to godaddy and punch in all urls for baldingtony, honestjon, etc. You will see they were all registered by the same company, around the same time, and in Westchester, CA. Maybe, we should just accept it.
wheeew. I had my credit card in hand, my hopes high, yet, my brain was still functioning. Maybe I am just tired of being screwed over by scams. This time I looked at the other side of the issue and now I have decided not to try this worthless product. Thankyou all for sharing your experiences. Do any of you know of a treatment, non-perscription, that works? Thankyou
j
I feel like crying. Honesty truly is such a lonely word.
I’m just turning 24 soon, and over the past couple of months, i have noticed a receding hair line and significant thinning of hair on the top of my head. my older bro of 2 years went bald, so i know im next in line. i have funny shaped head so i know i will get depressed over this. Especially since i’m single!! I’m loosing more hair on one side than on the other so its getting to look weirder. i shampoo my hair every morning only to see so much of it go down the drain. I know there is no cure to this ‘curse’, but i would like to enjoy my hair for a little longer, what should i use, how much will it cost?
there is no hope , i would suggest save your money and work on improving other areas in your life go to the gym dress nicer concentrate on other things you have going for yourself!
#25 Marcus is absolutely right. I went to godadday and kept drilling and finally got to whois.domaintools.com. There I found all three trustmichael.com, honestjonathan and baldingtony are registered throgh ENOM, INC. on Theplanet.com Internet Services Inc. from Dallas, TX. I realize ENOM is a domain registrar, but what are the chances 3 guys discussing the same topic are registered with the same domain broker?
I, to, was about to ordered up the $200 6 month supply, since everyone stated it took several months to see results.
I did order the full year supply of Procede. It did nothing. It did not burn, it did not promote hair growth nor thickening, it was only a waste of a day every three months. I still using the shampoo and conditioner, since I have it.
Has anyone heard or tried HVT from new-healthproducts.com? It seems to be a vitamin supplement. It is not very expensive. I thought about giving it a try.
wow i can’t believe i just found this site after i just ordered provillus. i feel like a comple retard right now for actually beleiveing that balding tony site.
it knew it was suspicious when he still looked bald as hell in the only 2 pics he had.
sorry if this is a dumb question but what does minoxidil do exactly?
Thank god I found this site before I order Provillus. I came across BaldTony’s website and it was convincing.. But I notice the date on the letter changes everyday. Good thing I did the research to save me $156.
Same here. I just about bought the provillus package until I realized that you can’t buy it in stores - obviously a mail-order product and returning it would be a hassle. Then I checked the money back guarantee…. that was a bunch of crap because each bit of info about it was different. One page would say “6 month guarantee”, another “30 day guarantee”… seriously. I’m luck I found this page. I started using propecia when I was 18 because of hairloss. I also used Nioxin shampoo and I also tried Rogaine. Propecia was the only thing that kept me from going bald. Now, I’m almost completely bald and I have to shave my head every other day so I look my age. I might get another batch of Propecia or Rogaine. I’m tired of looking like my grandpa when I’m less than 1/3 his age.
Thank you all, I was ready to part with £120 after reading the glowing reports from Balding Tony and “Honest” Micheal. It now makes sense, why would they pay to be at the top of the Goggle list unless it was just to link you to the sales site. I also come across u.k sites that claim only to sell proven products yet provide no pictures.
Cannot beleive I got sucked in so easily, thank you all again.
I’m sorry, but I cannot believe the negative comments and the ‘piling on’ about Provillus. Everyone’s “so glad they didn’t order”, etc. but I don’t know why. There is not one post above that said they tried it and it didn’t work.
Much has been said about their corporate structure and lousy return policy, but no-one can say, nor has said it didn’t work. Amazing.
I just ordered it for my wife. Then I read these negative comments and felt bad I did. But reading them again, there are (at least) two positive reports, and the rest is just corporate bashing. What a waste of time.
I agree, their return policy is horrible, and I was about to take them up on it, but not any more. We’re going to use it and see what it does. But we’re not going to bash it….not even having tried it.
Keep well everyone.
I am glad that I real this before I buy it.
Ah, finally a legit site about male balding. The negative comments are music to my ears. Now I don’t have to worry about spending money on any more of that worthless shampoo I’ve been buying.
SOMEONE TRY THE DAMN THING SO WE CAN SETTLE THIS!!!!!
Provillus does work. You may not regaine the hair you have lost, but this will stop you from losing it all. Some people may see a thicker head of hair.
i honestly think all of the postivie comments are from the provillus poeple trying not to get exposed.like this dr.bornmann guy
i’m using it right now i’ll let you guys know if i see any results
It’s interesting that as long as a blog bashes a whole bunch of products, it automatically becomes trustworthy. If this blog were to praise Provillus, I guess it would be just another scam. I have been doing a lot of research on this the last few months. Generally, I have found 2 camps of people. Some that stand by the medical/propecia products, and others, the herbal DHT blockers. On both sides, they bash the products on the other side to no end. Anyone in the medical field will consider any non-propecia product a scam.
I advise people to assume that everything they read on the web may not be completely true. (Including this blog!) Even be sceptical about what I am writing because you don’t know me. Everyone here may be lying, just how people that post on other sites may be lying.
Now from my own personal experience, I agree that things said about the company may be true. They may not offer refunds, they may have scam sites out there to drive sales, the product may just be a combination of lemon juice and cranberry juice, a watered down version of some other product, etc. But the fact is, I don’t give a damn. I started using the product about a month ago, and I see results even after this short time. Thinning areas have started to fill in, and hair loss stopped. I can’t say if the growth will be sustainable or not, but I can say that for me, it is working. It may not work for others, but to me, that doesn’t really matter; sorry.
I am posting this so that you can make an informed decision. Of course, I may be trying to scam you… :).
I have yet to see a doctor say that any kind of pill that doesn’t have side effects is better than one that does. But if sex isn’t a priority to you, and you like doctors and prescriptions, go for Propecia. It’s ‘clinically’ proven, and may be your better option.
When I first considered Provillus, I was led to believe there was a 6 month money back guarantee less a processing fee. With no noticeable results after 4 months I contacted them to return and get a refund. They responded it’s only 30 days, plus $10/bottle plus processing fee! Sounds like a big rip! I used Propecia in the past and it worked but I quit due to side effects. Don’t waste your money on this crap!
Great post Mike B, I appreciate your balance.
I will let you know what my wife says after a month or so, it’s only been a week or two so far.
As for you quitters out there, all I can say is: I have more hair now than I did in my 20’s, and I’m in my 40’s. I use Proscar once a day (Propecia copy), and Rogaine only in the morning. Plus I still use New Generation shampoo. I don’t have the most aggressive form that some may, more like a Jack Nicholson style, but no one would know.
I am now thinking of substituting Provillus for my Proscar and see if it keeps going. If so that would be great, ’cause the side effect of the Proscar I could do without. I’m checking to see if the Provillus we have is the same for men as it is for women.
I’ll let you know more as I know it.
Look the cold hard truth is there will never be acure. It is just not important enough to cure and there is no real money in curing anything. that is why nothing since the Polio and mumps have been cured, and that was in the days beofre big pharma companies saw they coul make even more money by just kind of treated illnesses.
On topic— I tried Propecia from the time i was 23 until I was 30. I gave it the old college try. I also tried rogaine it was horrible. I then tried Regenix in Beverley hills which was endorced by Matthey Mcconaughey and that was a very involved process every day. More so then Rogaine. Also way too pricey. It also did nothing after 5 months when they claimed you see results after 3. My brother is 8 years older then me and we have almost the exact same amount of hair even after those years on propecia. He never tried any hair products ever. I started earlier then he did since I used steroids once when I was 18 and it kick started it big time.
BIG FACT you all should be looking at when selecting one of these product is the FDA and FTC look into these so called treatments, and the advice they give is simple. Unless they can provide bonifide Product testing results from a third party with no financial gain like FDA certified drugs have had like real Clinical studies by REAL scientist and researchers then do not pay them a dime. This means they have no real proof.
Another big thing to consider is just how long do think you can stick with a twice daily treatment like all of these require? Taking the pills is not hard at all to stick with but the topical is and they are all messy and make your hair look like crap. Unless you are 100% certain you can stick with for the rest of your life which in most cases could be another 40 years then why bother? Accept your fate and deal with it. I have and it sucks but the faster you deal with it the better off you will be.
I had to finally realize that no matter what I was never going to be a model, actor, or a babe hound again…lol. So now I just move on with my daily life and deal with all the unapproving looks from women I come into contact. Women like to say how superficial Men are but my god I am not a bad looking guy otherwise. if I am wearing a hat and say a Tank top I get smiles and compliments all the time. I am in great shape and a good guy, but I am quickly discounted because of my hair. So I know that if I act on the opportunity when I am wearing a hat It is likely they may change their minds once they see my hair. So i tend to avoid acting on those opportunities. We live in an image driven world, and everyone wants perfection these days, but in most cases they do not deserve it because they are just bad people. I need to be attracted to a woman but I have dated women of all shapes and sizes. Unfortunately I have yet to find the right one. That is a hard thing to do.
In the end that is what wanting your hair back is really about. Be attractive to the opposite sex. Understandable! I know it is much harder with our issue, but I know eventually I will find someone who truely likes me for me, and not because I have “Super Cool Spike Hair”. My step-dad found my mom 30 years ago and she is very pretty all my friends always said so, and she could care less about his hair. She love him no matter. my real dad had a full thick head of hair when she left him so the hair made no difference.
Look just stop wasting your money on these foolish snake oils and get on with it. Obsessing about it is going to make you waste your life. Don’t Do It! Stop making these assholes rich that are laughing all the way to the bank with their perfect heads of hair.
Peace Out!
I have been taking Provillus for 5 months. THIS WORKS. No I am not a sponsor of them, NO I do not work for them, NO I am not some fictional character made up just to promote the product. I am from IL born and raised. I noticed one side of my hair receeding some years ago. My hair began growing back after about 2-3 months of taking it. Most of you guys bashing the product have to realizing that all products do not work for everyone. What may work for one may not work for the other. But none the less- IT WORKED FOR ME. So:
Don’t knock it til you try it!
Wow talk about a long post of mostly bad info
Here is my story:
I’ve used Provillus. It’s worked wonders for me
I’m not some kind of sponsor that you guys are talking about… I’m a computer programmer born and raised in Toronto Canada. The owners of this blog can verify my IP address and everyone else’s IP address who has posted here and can tell you if all the positive comments are coming from the same location.
I’m really surprised that this type of company bashing is even allowed on this blog.
Anyway, now that I’m done with my rant. I actually found this blog while looking for more information on the safety of Provillus. I’ve never experienced something that has worked this well for me and I’m a little worried about it’s safety. I haven’t experienced any side effects from it yet but is there anything long term that could happen to me?
I’ve been using it for about 5 months now.
Thanks.
Jason
I got this product because my hair is thinning in the front and i noticed my hair is falling out when i was combing my hair in the sink. I ordered provillus 3 weeks ago and Boy does this stuff work. My hair went from paper thin to thick in teh first two weeks, 1. My hair has not fallen out when i run my fingures thru my hair. 2. its mad my hair thicker to were i can now wear it spiked up and it stays up. 3. it cured my dandruff and dried scalp. 4. i have more confidence. 5. i tried it and it worked, i was unsure at first but then i relized it was a go for approach. Its only been 3 weeks. I brought a 4 month supply. Ive noticed also my thinning spots are really starting to peak in. Ill will continue back in 1 month with another update.
dont be bitter make lemonade.
jordan
provillus works, first i orderd 2 bottles to try, and after i saw results i ordered more, i’ve been using it for a year now,
works for me, i comes from medical family, and you can find more dangerous drugs in fda aproved, every few years they withdraw some products, today there is no time for testing it in labs and it’s losing money, people are lab rats
FDA is scam too,
trust me, fallow your own instincts, try it and if there is no results don use it
minoxidil works too,
generic minoxidil you can buy in every chemist or drugstore or you have to order it at your chemist
i’m not in us or uk, i was there, but now i’m in europe in small country where you can buy minoxidil at every chemist,
you can use nettle tea to rinse your hair after washing,
i use plain hoop shampoo, that helps too,
I’m not bald, i have a thin hair,
and i’m close to 40
after a year of using it have no side effects
Well my “Provillus for Men” arrived today, so I will now be making the switch over from Proscar (which worked very well) to Provillus, and I’ll let you know what happens.
All the people claiming Provillus works in above are the same people who put up those bogus sites! Buyer Beware!!!
I was almost going to order rovillus, but after reading all the comments, I am really confused. I bought a laser hair comb. Do anyone now if laser comb work for hair growth. And what about the hair transplant?
Please let me know
Hey Joe,
I don’t understand why you would claim that all the guys who are posting on here are owners of the product. I think comments like that are uncalled for. As I have started previously the admins have the ability to check who is who and where they are commenting from.
I’d suggest they do that as this blog post is becoming to be ridiculous.
My 2 cents.
Jason
I have been using Provillus for 2.5 months now and I have actually seen some results. I can see the new hairs growing. I can tell they’re new because they’re shorter than the others and my hair feels different somehow. This product does work. I had tried a similar product a few years ago called “Aloette Radiance” and they were a dietary supplement as well. Their main pitch wasn’t the fact that it might regrow hair, it was for healthy looking skin and nails etc.
Even if this product doesn’t regrow hair… it won’t hurt you to try it! The least it will do is make your skin and hair look healthy if it doesn’t grow hair back.
There is also a product called “Biofen” which claims it might regrow some hair. The ingredients are similar to that in Provillus. I bought a bottle of Biofen for a backup in case my Provillus shipments are late or something.
I’d also like to quickly comment on the ‘return policy’ posts I’ve seen here. When I ordered Provillus, i only ordered a 2 month supply. After the 2 months, i actually saw results like I said. I then ordered a 4 month supply. The shipment got lost or hung up in Customs or something (i live in Toronto by the way). I emailed them stating that i hadn’t received my order. After a few days, they reshipped my order at no charge. I ended up receiving both orders on the same day! 8 bottles for the price of 4! Can you beat that?
Anyway, i agree with the other posts here stating DONT KNOCK IT TILL YOU TRY IT.
PS: JOE, if you say I work for Provillus or that i’m affiliated with them, we will all know for sure you’re lying! I’m a sys admin living in Toronto and have absolutely no affiliation with Provillus at all.
Look people. If you all seriously think that the above people “praising” the product aren’t somehow affiliated with the company, then you are being naive.
I, for one, will not purchase the product. Take a deep breath, realize the doctor’s response, and do not purchase the product.
I’ve been visiting a hair specialist, and there’s a reason why she hasn’t mentioned this AT ALL.
I am not “praising” it. I could not care less if you or anyone in the world buys it. It’s completely up to you and will never affect me in any way what-so-ever. I’m just telling my story that i have seen results with it and that’s not a lie.
She hasn’t mentioned this, cos she wants you to spend your money in her practice, not on some diet supplements :P.
Honestly, i could not care less if you or any of you try provillus. It’s entirely up to you and it makes absolutely no difference to me
I wonder?
The simplest explanation is usually correct. So let’s look at the two possibilities here.
1) Provillus is a scam.
2) Provillus really works, but it has been completely ignored by the news media and all medical professionals because they want to watch people go bald and laugh at them. It’s a huge conspiracy.
Which is the simpler explanation?
I am not quite sure who’s telling the truth. Between the drug companies and the the internet scammer, I am not quite sure who’s worse. Since I am confused I will not purchase Provillus. My lost.
Well as I mentioned earlier I got onto the Provillus now and for starters I am very happy I did. After about 3 days I could tell the “side effects” of the Proscar (Propecia) I was on were diminishing, and my libido was returning. After about a week and I was a changed man.
As far as the hair loss issue is concerned, I can’t comment on that yet except to say that whatever the Proscar had done for me isn’t becoming ‘undone’ yet, but it is probably too early to comment on that.
But so far my improved ‘performance’ is substantial.
Hi, after reading all the comments about this product (Provillus) i can not say what i really want to do. i do not want to waste my money and i do not want to lose my hair. I have no advise i just want something that works. That is all.
It works for my mom. And I’ll give it a try. Sucks being a thinned woman.
Solid, do what I did. Try one for a few months, say 3, and if you’re not convinced try something else next, that you’ve been reading up about during those 3 months.
I tried many things before I found the combination of Proscar (Propecia) and Rogaine worked super well for me. And even after they worked and I wanted to try something else (to hopefully eliminate the side effects) I would find the new thing worked well for a month, and then failed, so I went back to what I was using.
It’s trial and error. Just start on something and keep notes.
Best!
Dave
Sadbaldguy really makes a point. I guess alot of us are so desperate for a cure that we will accept anything. If you’re worried about how baldness affects your appearance, someone earlier in this post said it rite. Save your money and invest in other methods to enhance your appeareance: ie: work out and have a nice body, buy nicer clothes, get a nicer car even!
Don’t let baldness reduces your chances of getting laid. Improve on other areas to offset your baldness!
I’ve heard from a friend of mine that pilfood is very good but not sure if the hair regrowth remains after you stop taking the pill.
so “ridiculous”, what has your hair spcialist told you then?
i know i’ve been using provillus for a month or 2 now and i can’t tell if it’s gotten worse or better. i think i see new hairs but i’m not sure yet.
Tried Procerin and Provillus one year apart with mixed results. Both caused a temporary reduction in fallout in the first 120 days with a noticeable spread of vellus hairs at the four month point. None had any affect at arresting my receding hairline. At the six month point, I felt like I was back at ground zero with no real gains. The vellus hairs started to evaporate and never showed any signs of thickening. Did experience some insomnia and some mild sexual side effects which I attribute to the Saw Palmetto. Just fyi, I am an athlete and I was using 5% Minox for a couple of years and did experience some heart palps from time-to-time, so be careful with that. Minox did not regrow hair for me, but did arrest hair loss and had noticeable improvement in thickness and hair length. On the herbals, my recommendation is SAVE YOUR MONEY. I’ve tried a lot of stuff and they have all been shiite. Something to think about. Have you ever known anyone who was suffering from hairloss who made a reversal who did not have a transplant? Beware of any claims that boast of recovery before the four month point since that is contrary to the natural hair cycle. I am currently trying the amazinglaserbrush (cheaper alternative), so I will post my results sometime in May. Sorry for the choppy thoughts as my coffee hasn’t kicked in. Cheers!
This product is a scam. I don’t have to try it in order to conclude this. Why would anyone shell out $10,000 for a Bosley hair transplant if they can take this “miracle” natural pill. Everyone in the world would be taking this product. Beware of these scams people. They prey on you because they know you’re desperate for hope and a simplistic fix. FDA approved does not mean it’s effective….it means it’s not dangerous to you.
Anthony, you’ve never tried it, so your opinion means nothing.
Caleb, sounds like you went through the same stages I went through. I would try something and was quite happy when some fine hair would come it, but then like you, it would vanish leaving me wonder where it went. That was until I combined the treatments.
When I combined Proscar (Propecia) with Rogaine, which you even said helped hair mature, so to speak, only then did those hairs mature. This was utopia for me for now I had the Proscar starting the hair, and Rogaine maturing them. I have been winning with this combination for 8 or so years.
It seems others have validated this combination since several products are now sold as combinations (pill and topical solution) like I am doing, including Provillus.
I have been using Provillus for over a month now, and I am thrilled with what I am seeing. Even more growth than before, and much hair now 1/4″ to just under 3/4″ long. The density is better so much so that it feels like I’m using hair spray when I’m not. I wonder if it will last, but I know the Rogaine part will keep it going as it had in the past. I am super pleased, considering I was almost going to return my wife’s order after reading this thread.
So at 1.5 months in I am lookin’ mighty fine. I think I will order 4 bottles next time.
Best!
Dave
bought it and I do have some regrowth. Is it a placebo effect or just my imagination? I’m in my second month.
Tried Propecia before: This thing will kill your sex life, you don’t want play with that.
Tried Rogaine before: The liquid is hard to apply and it caused my scalp to dry, producing some kind of giant flakes! Plus my girlfriend couldn’t bear the smell.
Got a micrograft (300 plugs) which turned out just OK… But i lost more hair and another surgery wouldn’t be very natural. Other negative side of the surgery is the donor area scarce, if you keep your hair short - people keep asking me what happened to me in the back of my head.
So I keep my hair extra short (Bruce Willis like) and hope that short hair will stay trendy!
So I am on provillus now, so far so good. But I’ll buy that Saw Palmento stuff at my local drugstore after I am done with these two bottles (100$).
The best hope is Genetic Treatment! Which could be available in 10 years…
Or there’s a drastic way to block DHT, which is to remove your testicles which produce the damn thing. But I don’t recommend it either! LOL.
works for me..seriously.
I tried rogaine and nothing.
I hated the side effects of propecia and did not really work. I don’t have the typical male pattern baldness, just receding in front.
Then I used revivogen for several years - messy
then went to procerin - not sure why I changed.
Provillus is by far the best. my hair is thicker. it took about 3 months to see any improvements. I started noticing the difference when I shampoo my hair. The scalp wasn’t smooth anymore.
I’ve been using Provillus for about a year.
I took a risk and got good results. Running out so buying another year supply.
I am going to buy it today (Jan 22, 08) and will tell you what the progress is.
wow we have alot of anger here on both sides…well here goes…i am 39, male, i play bass in a cover rock band(and always wear my baseball hat backwards on stage cuz my hair isnt what i would like it to be)…just bought a 6 month supply of provillus and have been taking it about 10 days….i have a good paying day job so i figure the 179.00 for the provillus will either get me some thicker hair, or i just spent a days worth of salary and got ripped off…its worth it for me, just in case. i realize the balding tony and honest michael websites are bullshit but i hope the stuff actually can block DHT and do something for me…why not??? i tried minoxidil in the past, used it for a few weeks until the itching became so unbearable i was letting my fingernails grow just to itch my scalp more….i also got a hair transplant from bosley, which worked, but only for the front of my head….my balding area is in the crown, and after ive tried provillus for about 10 more weeks or so, i will update you, using this same screenname….if its bs i will let you all know!
oh yea p.s….i am going balls out on this one….i stopped smoking, moderated my alcohol, drink only water,oj,milk or herbal tea, eat healthy, do aerobics, use progaine shampoo (which has no rogaine in it), and have gone completely herbal on just about everything i buy….so if in 3 months or so i see nothing, then i GUARANTEE provillus is a scam…..chk back i will tell yous….scott-pennsylvania
Metalbouy, you rock.
Sounds like an awesome plan, and I’m sure you will see some positive effect. It seems the more aggressive the problem the less can be expected, but in any case you will probably see less fallout and some fine hairs start soon.
What you should make sure you do right away is look very closely and take a mental note as to how many small fine hairs you have, and watch for a change on that level first. If you don’t take an “inventory” now you may not realize what it’s doing till much later.
One should note about the negative comments above; they almost never say it did nothing, and they are almost all directed to their corporate strategy. So, while I was skeptical at first, and still am, you should be encouraged by all of the positive posts here.
So good luck. I’m 1.5 mo’s in and quite happy.
Dave
Sup guys,
So here’s my story. I have no idea if this works or not as I’ve been using it for 3 weeks or so. My derm recommended propecia but my dad was skeptical about its side effects. So he had my step-mom, a pharmacist, research various hair-regrowth/hairloss-inhibiting types of medications/supplements. I assumed provillus was something that was tried and tested and achieved FDA approval, however, of course I was wrong. I’m way skeptical of this stuff working atm and I take another shampoo that I use 2x’s a week. After reading through all these posts, I wanted to call my dad and grill him for not doing the research on the company itself that sells provillus.
Regardless, I calmed myself down after reading a few posts and have decided to continue taking it to see if I see results. If this works, I will let you guys know when I see the results. The only problem I would have if it did work, was actually taking it everyday for the rest of my life.
So here’s to giving this a shot.
I have bipolar… is provillus for women safe to take?
I just wanted to let everyone know that this “guy” Dave is full if SHxx! I just got through using a six month supply of Provillus religiously (pills and minoxidil morning and night) and I can very honestly say that they did not help! In truth, I have lost hair since switching to Provillus from a different hair loss product which also wasn’t working.
For the first couple of months my head was almost unbearably itchy. Another side effect that you will get with continued use is scalp acne. Yeah, I’m talking deep, inflamed scalp pimples. This alone should be enought to keep you from using it!!! Brad (post #46) has some good advice. I think we should all focus on our strongest traits. Hair loss sucks!
Post 80 TRANSLATION:
“The product I was using before didn’t work for me,
Provillus didn’t work for me, therefor Provillus is a scam.”
Look, nothing works for you. Blame your parents.
See Post 57 by someone else. I couldn’t say it better myself.
It’s funny how Dave is constantly watching this blog and reporting something positive or defending Provillus as soon as someone talks bad about Provillus.
By the way Dave, you mention in blog 71:
“It seems others have validated this combination since several products are now sold as combinations (pill and topical solution) like I am doing, including Provillus.”
I orderd provillus but only got the pills. You mentioned that they have topical solution? Where is that?
Maximus, you’re right, I do follow this thread with interest since there are several people doing the same thing I am, namely, trying this stuff for the first time.
When I ordered it a few months ago for my wife I was quite upset that they didn’t send the Minoxidil part. So much so that I almost sent it back. But they said they couldn’t send it to me since I’m in Canada. I’ve since found the same problem getting Rogaine 5% from the states as well. Turns out that in Canada only 2% Minoxidil is non-prescription, and the Provillus stuff must be 5%, so they didn’t sent it because they won’t let it over the border. Since my regimen needs the Rogaine stuff I am still looking for my best option. $50 at Shoppers is a bit stiff.
Anyway, maybe some websites show it and some don’t. I did a quick search and found this site shows both. http://www.provillusreport.com/
Again, if any of you think I somehow work for them or something, that’s just wrong. I just know that I’ve been battling this for many years, and how hard it is to find the right combination that works for you. I still think that the most proven product I’ve tried was the Proscar (Propecia). That I KNOW works. I am just hoping this works as good.
Oh, and one more thing. I also hate finding a thread like this, and someone early on says “I’ll tell you how it goes”, and never writes again. I’m also just trying to not be another one of those guys.
Dave
Hey Maximus, I just wanted to tell you what was REALLY going on. When I first ordered Provillus (about 6 months ago) they did both carry and strongly advertise their topical solution. The went on and on about how it was the combination of minoxidil and azelaic acid in just the right proportions in the topical solution that was the key to their system. The pills were also mentioned as a way to reduce formation of DHT and ultimately prevent hair loss. And they stated that the COMBINATION of applying the topical twice a day AND taking the pills would result in hair regrowth. When I was getting close to running out, I got online to order some more (I figured if I had used it for this long already (5 mo.) I might as well give it just a bit longer…after all, a lot of the sites out there kept claiming that results could take a long time to see). I was suprised to see that they no longer advertised the topical solution but were JUST praising the pills and acting as if the topical was not important. I called them and the sales rep said that the topical would be back in at the end of the week. That was over a month ago. The shxx is still not in, and that really pissed me off. After using the stuff for 6 months and I can’t continue even if I wanted to. Oh yeah, that link that “DAVE” put up is just another link to the main Provillus site where absolutely no topical solution is available! Here is a comment made by Dave in post 71:
“When I combined Proscar (Propecia) with Rogaine, which you even said helped hair mature, so to speak, only then did those hairs mature. This was utopia for me for now I had the Proscar starting the hair, and Rogaine maturing them. I have been winning with this combination for 8 or so years. It seems others have validated this combination since several products are now sold as combinations (pill and topical solution) like I am doing, including Provillus.”
I just wanted everyone to know that Proscar is a form of finasteride which is the active ingredient in Propecia but the dosage of finasteride in Proscar is 5mg instead of the 1mg dosage contained in Propecia. Now here is why what Dave said is so stupid: Proscar is prescribed to patients to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) which is a disease associated with enlarged prostates among other things. Back in the early 80’s observations were made that there was 5-alpha reductase activity going on in the prostate which meant testosterone was being converted to DHT and that the DHT might be important in the pathogenesis of benigh prostatic hyperplasia. By observing that control patients with a genetic deficiency of 5-alpha reductase had small prostates, the hypothesis was formed that reducing 5-alpha reductase activity might halt prostate growth. Tests on dogs confirmed this. A couple years later, tests were administered to see if Proscar could decrease the incidence of low grade prostate cancer and it was discovered that that finasteride which was successful at treating minor prostate diseases such as BHP actually increased ones chances of getting a high grade prostate cancer. Later tests showed that the 1 mg dose of finasterede in Propecia and the 5 mg dose in Proscar both produce about equal changes in DHT serum and testosterone and therefore, it can be inferred that even the 1 mg dose of Finasteride in Propecia can greatly increase the risks of a high grade prostate cancer. So…”Dave”…I really don’t think you would be taking Proscar [or as you put it "Proscar(Propecia)" ] to treat hair loss. And also, noone else is validating your pill/topical treatment…all the pill/topical treatments on the market are saw palmetto/minoxidil, not 5mg finasteride/minoxidil!!!!!!
The above info was a summary of an article I read a while back. I just found the article. It is called “Proscar and Propecia—A Therapeutic Perspective” by William Rosner and if anyone is interested reading it in full it can be found in google scholar.
So no one uses Proscar for hair loss? Explain this!
http://www.hairlosstalk.com/interact/search.php?keywords=proscar&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=titleonly&sk=t&sd=d&sr=topics&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search
And yes, that link redirected me to a site without the topical, I thought because I was in Canada. Here is a site that shows it.
http://provillusshop.com/data-how_to_apply_Provillus_topical_hair_serum__d677.html
Whether they still sell it or not is not my problem. Fact is there was one, and that’s what I was asked about.
Dave
I’ve been using provillus for 6 months now and have seen little improvements. This Sh*t is terrible!
I bought Provillus about 6 weeks back probably in desperation more than anything. I naively saw a bunch of positive webpages and blogs and thought it may be worth a shot.
Shortly after ordering the stuff I found some negative feedback with accusations of scams etc. Felt like a total dick as I really didn’t think I was the kind of guy to fall for that kind of thing being a reasonably balanced and sceptical person by nature….
Anyway, I am so glad I did. After 6 weeks I am seeing some incredibly positive results. My hair is so thick and healthy and feels completely different than prior to use. It is early days yet so we’ll see but I am genuinely pleased if not somewhat suprised with the results.
I do agree that Provillus markets aggresively and even somewhat decietfully and from what I’m hearing the “return policy” is a total scam which brings me mixed emotions giving a positive endorsement on such a company but the fact is it is working for me. My hair loss is at the early stages and I don’t necessarily think it would work for everyone but I am seeing positive results.
You can be sceptical about this post. I would indeed encourage a certain amount of healthy sceptisism! I’m not trying to convince anyone of anything. I just felt the need to post this in light of my results and seeing many people who have not even tried the product dismissing it as a scam. I think the Ultra Herbal company are not entirely genuine in their dealings but I for me the actual product has been good so far. Will update further in months to come.
Cheers
*note to blog host.Australian IP address.
hi! i’m 19 and the hair in front of my head is thinning. i tried biohairs which consists of minoxidil for 5 months then generic 5% minoxidil for 4 months. i can say the generic minox worked for me better but then the stupid barber acidentally shaved a part of my head so i had to have all of it shaved. anyways, i stopped using minoxidil and currently using a coconut milk shampoo with aloe vera daily(i’m going natural!) oh, i also used the shampoo together with the 5% minox. i live in the philippines and i want to try out this product i’m gonna tell my mom once she gets home

OTQ: does protein help in making hair healthY? or not? i’m also into lifestyle modification: eating healthy and increased oral fluid (water) intake. i also take protein supplements since i work out (to have my muscles compensate for my hair)
:BUMP:

i just saw toppik a few seconds ago and i wanna try it since my hair isn’t bald.. just thin
Well, I’ve just read throught this page and such a mix of comments has left me not knowing what to think about Provillus. I have been using the product along with Minoxidil for just under a month now so further usage is required to validate if it actually does work for me….but in my opinion it’s either save my money and lose my hair OR spend my money and try to find something that works for me …so I shall be continuing with it in the meantime! I have hope!
Neil
ok here i go —i just read thru EVERY-COMMENT and fist off id like 2 say —DAVE seems like a scammer, ??? and for the Balding Tony, TrustMichael, and Honest Jonathan these sites are sales pitches for the company (I THINK THATS EASY 2 SEE) — as for the COMPANY they do seem SHADY as well as there return policy is garbage( DO THE RESEARCH) … .. there are so many mixed comments about this product im not sure what 2 do really id love 2 try something that works 4 me - im 20 and i have never tried any hair product– this one seemed -at first- 2 be worth trying ??! i know every body has there own results so i understand if some one says it didnt work very well for them …. BUT really POEPLE we all have the SAME PROBLEM so lets be HONEST and help each other ,NOT JUST CONFUSE every body —- I REALLY WANT 2 TRY THIS OR AT LEAST SOMETHING … so IF ANY BODY READS THIS PLEASE COMMENT BACK ASAP !!!! if you have a information 2 help me and others …?
So because I was helpfull, you now label me a scammer.
Well, now nobody wants to help you.
Maybe because if they do they’ll be labelled a scammer too.
Take back what you called me and I’ll give you my honest opinion.
And skip the capital letters. You don’t know how to use them.
I am 22 and have a little bit of a receding hair line. I really don’t want to lose a bunch of hair and would like to get my old one back. I have read the whole site context and don’t know what to believe but I might just try it for 6 months anyways. But where do you order it from. on their direct site it says it only comes with pills but I thought there was a syrum too. A lil’ help please
Thanks
I have tried the product for 10 days now(just the pills since the lotion never arrived). I started to get shortness of breath and tightened chest and it became very uncomfortable to breath so I went online and started to research the side effects about Provillus. Of course there are not many reported (just a few) since there has not been any medical research done for this product so I researched the side effects of Palmetto and this is what I found:
The most common complaints involve the stomach and intestines, and include stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, bad breath, constipation, or diarrhea. Similarly, reports of headache, dizziness, insomnia, depression, breathing difficulties, muscle pain, high blood pressure, chest pain, abnormal heart rhythm, and heart disease have also been reported.
All I have to say is this: what is more important to you? Your looks or your health. Once you know that, then you know how to decide wither Provillus is for you or not. And adding to that, nothing even guarantees that Provillus does work. I wish there was a better way for governments to monitor the “magic potions” these companies profit from on the depression of general public and punish them for lying.
Bee, maybe you should call them and ask what the heck is going on. Because on one website it clearly shows the lotion and you take the link directly off that site and it disappears. But if for some reason they don’t sell the lotion then you can always buy Rogaine off EBay for pretty cheap.
But it depends what you wanna do. Personally, over the years, I always started with one thing at a time to see what it did. If you start with two you won’t know which one works.
So, you have to decide which you prefer, to take the pills or apply the lotion. If you like the idea of the lotion then just go to EBay and order some Rogaine. If you prefer the pills then you know where they are.
Again, I’m not trying to push anyone one way or the other. I’m just letting you know what I did, and if Provillus works for me.
If you want to see more info on a variety of products and like a lot of opinions and advice, feel free to check out that site I posted in my post #87. Those guys know a lot more about this than me. All I know is what’s working for me.
Dave
I am sending the stuff back since I have had dizziness, trouble breathing, and tightend chest. It is not worth it for me to feel bad to maybe have more hair. Thanks for the info though.
Gents,
I am from Saudi Arabia. I read through the Provillus website and purchased 6 bottles which did not reach me. I wrote to them and requested a re-shipment with a traking number to follow the shipment after they claimed they sent the 1st shipment. They re-shipped the goods but did not give me a traking number. The second shipment did not reach me too! I requested a full refund and they quickly refunded all my money after deducting the shipment fees. After a few months, I received an e-meil from them stating that someone has received the two shipments and gave me his phone number and that I am free to collect the shipments to try them at no cost to me. I phoned the guy who turned out ot be a distant relative and discovered that Ultra Herbal mis-printed my PO Box number. Anyway, I received 12 bottles for free and used 9 of them so far and I can’t say there was any progress what so ever. I am lucky that I got my money back and would agree that if the stuff is not certified by a recognized association like FDA or similar, then the stuff is just a Bull’s S.
Cheers,
Ali
Hi I’ve been using provillus for approximately 2 years now and have to admit that my hair has not grown back at all. But what it did do was thicken up the existing hair I have. I have no more thin patches and can pass for a man who has not experienced hair loss yet. I think the trick is to take the stuff in the earlier stages of hair loss! If taking provillus means keeping baldness at bay until something cheaper and more permanent is avaliable, then so be it.
Dave,
Rogaine says it wont regrow at the receding hair line. is there anything that does?
This is all very confusing & frustrating. I figure there are different reasons for people going bald. They say out of 5 men, one will keep his hair for life, another will go bald very quickly and the remaining 3 will gradually go bald over the course of their life. It is what it is boys….
I’m 43 and only recently have I experienced a sudden and intense thinnning & recession on my crown & forehead. I make great money and figure what-the-heck, perhaps I’ll be one of the people who experience results. I’ve heard time and again that DHT is the reason hair dies….so we’ll see. I’m expecting & hoping for some improvments….but in all I expect at best it’ll just stave-off some hair loss for another decade or so.
Time will tell, the only thing for certain is I’ll be out a few bucks. If this is a scam, I wish all the worst karma on the schiesters pushing it….what comes around goes around, so….whatever.
Steve, you can relax, Provillus is not a scam. The ingredients work for some and not for others, just like any other treatment.
One of the main ingredients is Saw Palmetto. I’ve been looking into it, since this is such a mysterious topic, and on that other website (Forum) I posted earlier, among others, you will find many people who profess Saw Palmetto “works for them”. And there will be those for whom it does nothing. Don’t take my word for it, see for yourself. And if you can’t find the thread(s) let me know and I’ll post one or two to which I am referring.
But the problem is that there are different types of Saw Palmetto, and no one (on their own) seems to know what the correct amount to take is. So it could be in some cases they’re not taking enough, or the right type, and so if it doesn’t work for them who really knows the reason why? For example, Provillus has 1500mg of Saw Palmetto, and some people are taking 320mg a day. Well that’s quite a difference, so if you don’t get results it’s a little hard to conclude with authority that Saw Palmetto can’t work. You know?
But I’ve also found that there are other ingredients in Provillus that aren’t there by fluke, that the “Saw Palmetto” user is not getting. And who knows which one does the trick for you. Here is a list of the ingredients and at the bottom are the Technical Papers they reference. Looks pretty well thought out to me. http://www.buyprovillus.com/men/ingredients.php
And Bee, thanks for asking. It has been quite a while since I used Rogaine all by itself, but I seem to recall finding that Rogaine delivered more than promised. This isn’t surprising to me when you think of how “the system” works. Drug companies can only make claims that were proven in tests. And maybe that wasn’t as strongly proven, I don’t know, but I seem to recall that it helped in that area.
I do know the combination of Proscar (Propecia) and Rogaine did move my hairline forward. Now with Provillus even moreso.
I think the summary about Provillus is that it’s the “Natural” alternative to Propecia. Some would say it’s not as strong, but that’s why you take like 1mg of Propecia and 1500mg of Saw Palmetto. I do know that the sexual side effects Proscar (Propecia) gave me are gone since I’ve started using Provillus, and, I’m sorry to say this to some of you, my hair is in fact growing like mad. Think what you will. So I’m not gonna stop using Rogaine as long as things are going this well.
It’s like I said, Propecia is the “recognized” pill to use. If Proscar didn’t do it for some here, maybe try the “real thing”. But understand that it too has side effects as I’ve mentioned. If you want me to show you a thread about that let me know, but it (they) may be more scary than I think they should be. I had the side effects for several years and I’d say they went away after I switched. Some say they don’t, but I had no problem in that regard.
I wish everyone well.
Dave
Dave is a schmuck, in the pocket of Provillus big time. All he has is a link sending you back to a Provillus site
Ok Dave since you’re such an expert on this subject, can you tell me why when I type in “Provillus” on GOOGLE SCHOLAR not one stinkin article comes up???
Its says “Your search - Provillus - did not match any articles.
No pages were found containing “provillus”.
WOW I guess the scientific community is hating on your wonder pill huh?? When I went to type in Propecia, over 100 pages of articles came up.
I’m not saying Provillus doesn’t work, quite frankly I have never tried it. But I will opt out in buying this product for the simple fact that I don’t see any concrete evidence in it supporting it’s claims. Plus I don’t like their deceptive marketing tactics like them so-caled bloggers: BaldingTony, TustMicheal and all their other stooges. Thanks but no thanks Tony.
I am 30 years old and have thinning hair all around the top area. You can’t really tell all that much because I shave my hair really short. I will be trying known products like Finasteride (Propecia) and maybe some Rogaine. Hopefully there will be some real breakthroughs in the near future… but I wont be holding my breath.
Regards
Oscar
Another story.
Im not a native english speaking person, so plz try not to be annoyed by my spelling , i´m not a good speller even in my native language
Funny reading this blog. first of, positive to finally find a place where indeed it seems to be real people debating…but who knows? you could all be good Dave bad Dave all in one. I have bought the 6 month supply, and ofcource felt like a dumbass when I read about them being hustlers. I havn´t been in to this hairloss fetish long and still have some naive faith. My situation is this: I´m in my late 30´ties. 7 years ago I discovered that my hair was thining and have done nothing to this day. I still have my hair, meaning no bald spots, but on top it is not as rich looking as before. So I´m thinking I´m loosing it quite slowly. What botheres me the most about this ordeal is the mindgames I play on myself: constantly looking in the mirror to see deteriation, wearing all kind of lameass headgear, going to the bathroom everytime I come into a new place to check if the remains are in place, getting paranoid of peoples looks; why did she/he look at my hair, im sure they noticed.. oh but they did!, being aware where the bright lights in the room are, and moving out of them…wft! I kina wish someone would invent a product that would just take it all off. You know…so I didn´t have to bother with this twilight state anymore. So that it would be obvious to all; this guy is bald, has no hair..none, so be it!. So I can just leave it behind and get on with it. I am aware that hairloss is nothing but an extremely narcasistic matter and I wish I could rise above it but my brain is going nuts and I keep findig myself in this limbo state where I keep trying to hide it, and its killing me. Therefore I thought I´d give it a go. I looked very briefly into it on the web, and what I being told is this: dht kills the hair, so get stuff that keeps dht at a minimum. I bought this shampoo kit called nioxin and have tried it for a few days, to early to tell ofcource, and I bought, as I mentioned, the provillius 6 month supply, and thought it´ll be a combo: take some stuff internally and put some other stuff on top of the head and let the two be the rock and the hard place so to speak. Anyways I mostly need a place to record my “progress” and thought this forum would be appropiate. Any comment would ofcource be very appriciated.
I’ve read basically this entire blog and it seems fairly interesting. There seems to be quite a few people that brand provillus as a scam simply because it did not work in each of their specific cases. The refund issue seems to be a point of contention. What I want to know is why in hell’s name is there different versions of its website? I go to provillus.com by typing it myself and I see a product that makes no mention of a topical solution or even having monoxidil (excuse spelling)in it at all! More strange is the fact that if you go to buyprovillus.com (a link posted by one of the bloggers) then it takes you to a virtually identical website with a similar offer BUT this one prominently displays the topical solution and lists monoxidil as first ingredient describing it as the only FDA approved drug for hairloss. I think I’m a fairly objective person in how I approach things, but to me this is very sketchy. How can this company possibly state the importance of monoxidil and then, on another slightly different version of the website, not even list in the ingredients panel AT ALL? It doesn’t add up - there’s a chance it works for some but the company is obviously not putting their best foot forward with this one.
DavidJ, I have wondered the same thing.
I think what they’re doing is linking up with Minoxidol to make their FDA claims, but they drop it when nobody’s looking, and only provide their pills. Who knows, maybe there’s more money in the pills.
Dave
First let me say, I am not here to defend anyone or anything other than my posts and my name.
Y’know Oscar, you sound exactly like that previous poster ‘Dave is a Jackaxx’. I bet you and him are one in the same. You take your cheap shots and then leave, so there’s probably no point in responding to your groundless slander. But I will say this.
That’s an interesting site, that Google Scholar. I’ve never seen it before. Since the main ingredient in Provillus is Saw Palmetto I searched “Saw Palmetto Hair” and wow, it came back with 2,930 articles! Some showing Patents using various mixtures of Saw Palmetto and other ingredients. But I only came up with 1150 articles for Propecia. So thanks for the help!
But ya, I’m part of a grand conspiracy. Maybe the helpful guys here are part of another one! http://www.hairlosshelp.com/forums/categories.cfm?catid=10 Look how helpful they are! There’s a new post like every 10 minutes. They must be up to something.
Maybe Oscar, you are too! You’re so hostile about a product you’ve never used? Who are YOU working for, really. First you bash Proscar, probably because it’s taking away from Propecia sales, then you bash Provillus, probably for the same reason. Now you’re touting Propecia as the best product to use. Sounds to us like you work for Propecia! It just explains so much!
As Crack said, this thread is simply a place for users to report in their results. If you’ve never used it and don’t plan to, then you really don’t have much to contribute except hostility. So why don’t you get lost, again.
All I’ve posted is what anyone could have found with a bit of time on the internet.
Dave
Dave, (or anyone else who tried provillus)
Is there any proof you can show us, maybe like before and after pictures, or anything that can prove that product at least worked for you?
Hi Dan.
I’m sorry, but I don’t have any before pics. Proscar was working quite well for me so I really didn’t expect an improvement, I only hoped my gains would not be lost.
If I could take a picture that would show the smaller hairs clearly, and if this site would allow pictures, I might do that, but I tried to take a picture and it didn’t turn out well enough.
But, this thread is not about me. I would rather hear from other users than post myself. Testimonials from others, one way or the other, are more important. Although I am already making my own conclusions about the product. So far, so good. But in a few months who knows?
But there are other links I have found which include comments from other users of Saw Palmetto, so if you want those let me know.
Dave
I saw baldtony and ordered provillus two and a half months ago. I did not receive the product yet and the customer service had no response. Scam
Hi everyone… I am graduate student at Johns Hopkins University getting a degree in Biotechnology.
I am not a scammer nor do I have corporate interests… Finasteride is a generic for Propecia and Proscar - simply brand names. Finasteride (1 mg)and minoxidil 5%(topical) is probably the “best” FDA regulated combo. However, the herbal market is not regulated by the FDA, but this is not to say the products are all garbage. In fact some may work better, but the vast majority do not. I can not speak for Provillus I have not tried it, however it is conceivable that it could be effective. Certain drugs, chemicals, herbs, compounds all metabolize differently in individuals, thus Lipitor may not work to lower one person’s cholesterol but Crestor will. The point is Provillus may or may not work for you, but to declare it useless may not be entirely true. Just my opinion, and yes I too suffer from hair loss. I use Scalpmed, a highly overpriced minoxidil solution with some added ingredients. It works fairly well but I am still receding. I will probably try Provillus and give you all a detailed account of my progress like some people have already started doing (thank you Dave and others). The future is bright for us losing hair: Research, which I will be personally working on, shows great promise in the years ahead. Keep strong, good luck, and years from now we will look back on hair loss like scurvy.
If you want to put your photos so people can see, you can use a free site like Photobucket.com or Imageshack.us to host your photos and then post the links here.
Hi again, I messaged a few weeks ago saying that I had been trying a combo of minoxidil and provillus to regrow my thinning hair, and stated that further usage would be required to see results…. Well, I think it’s working. I had a thinning patch on the crown of my head and the very centre of this patch was bald! ..Now, the same area has hair over it, not thick or long hair, yet, but hair non-the-less. The patch, which always made me self concious and parranoid is now much less obvious so I shall certainly be buying some more provillus (I only purchased 2 months worth you see) to continue growing these new hairs. If your thinking of trying Provillus, I would say buy 2 months worth first to see if it works for you and then continue with it if you see results. It clearly doesnt work for everybody, which is a shame but if you don’t try, you won’t know if it can help you!
I will report back in a few weeks.
C’mon people, just help us balding people out, if we all have the same problem, shouldn’t we help each other out?Just say whether PROVILLUS works, i was considering on buying it, but now I’m more confused than ever before. I’m just 18, I should be out partying right now, but who would like to go out with one balding guy when there are thousands of guys with good hair. Just help me out. Does anyone TRULY know if Provillus works???
I read that when you begin taking Rogaine, you lose more hair than usual before it starts to work. Has anyone heard this or experienced this with Provillus?
