I’ve seen several ads and comments recently about a new product called Spectral DNC. It claims that it not only works on the back side of the scalp but on the frontal areas as well. It uses a combination of 5% minoxidil combined with Aminexil. Have you done any research on Spectral DNC product and are their claims valid? Have you heard anything about the effectivenss of Aminexil for the treatment of baldness
As far as I am aware, there is no medical research currently being conducted on topical minoxidil in combination with Spectral DNC. There are strict FDA requirements before any product can claim scientific results. Spectral DNC does not have an FDA approval for such claims unless it is piggybacking on minoxidil (which is what most product sales do). Topical minoxidil, however, is an FDA approved product that has limited hair growth potential. Minoxidil is a common ingredient in many hair products. Why pay for all of the added ingredients when it is minoxidil that is going to work (if at all) and at a price far less than Spectral DNC, I suspect.
Aminexil, from my understanding, is not a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved product. That said, there is no way for me to say it grows hair or it does not grow hair. Furthermore, I do not endorse any specific product. I do however, prescribe medication including finasteride (Propecia) only when there is an indication and I have completely evaluated the patient’s hair for miniaturization.

Aminexil is actually approved by the European Union for hair re-growth. I am sure that the European Union Health Agency carries just as much credibility as the FDA. Just because something is not yet approved in North America, doesn’t mean that it is not effective.
Aminexil doesn`t work! Don`t waste your money.
masturbating is beter. calms you down
dr. williams, allow me to quote you:
“Aminexil, from my understanding, is not a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved product. That said, there is no way for me to say it grows hair or it does not grow hair.”
from what you re saying (and from most of your responses to other inquiries), mr. williams, i get the impression that you re too blinded by the “official knowledge”. when a product has no “FDA approved” label, as you say, there is no way for you to say it grows hair or it does not grow hair. let me tell you something. there is many ways how you can tell a product can grow hair. and trust me, the best way is to witness a product grow hair on many heads. by putting FDA stamps on first place, i do not have to visit your site as it only claims what merck and pfizer claim. i greatly appreciate what you re doing here on this site and i m aware of the energy you put into it. however, i don t think you push it a bit further. you re a practitioner and as one i deem you could bring some new findings, or at least statistics that you as a doctor have easier access to.
just for your own information, i know 5 people taking propecia, 3 of them suffering a gyno (or at least bulking of breast tissue) and 2 of them having lower libido. unhappy coincidence? may be. but my intuition is that you do not care too much for facts, you just stick to labels and research that is far from being unbiased.

Ive been using spectral R.S.and DNC in combination, and it is the best hair loss product on the matket.
Im 33 now and have been using hair loss products since i was 17,and started with rogain and propecia, and then other products.
I used DR.LEE’S XANDROX,for about 4 years and its crap!
He makes all these claims, and all they are is halve truths and gorilla dust.
He puts out a 15% solution and thinks that it going to be better, wrong, its just caused butt loads of scalp irritation.
Spectral DNC is the best, 5% minoxidil in a nanosomal solution…it cant be beat..no irritation, and twice the stimulation because of the nanosomal solution penertrating deep into the dermis,D.S labs have got it right!
I really appreciate what John C and Lukas has to say. Lukas, I never thought of using both forumlas together!
I have used the Spectral DNC for AGA and I must say that not only does it work better than Rogaine, it did not cause me the horrible dred shed that Rogaine 5% foam (yes women use the 5% regardless of the the FDA has to say!) The Spectral has an added bonus of causing my exisitng hair to grow faster so I am also gaining length on my hair. I am very excited about the results. I thought I’d do a search and see what other reviews were out on the net and I found this thread. I understand he has to tow the drug companies line.
I appreciate the the work you have done on your site Dr. Rassman.
Please, advice if Spectral DNC will work for Chronic Telogen Effluvium with Seborreic Dermatitis? I have lost 80% of my hair for 1 year and I am afraid to try Rogaine 5% foam due to so many bad reviews and claimed irritation of the scalp. My scalp is irritated enough - itching and burning all the time.
Janet,
How long have you been using the Spectral DNC and how soon you had results?
I’ve been using spectral dnc (and one month spectral dnc-l now) for ten months now - after having hard scalp irritation with several other products. There aren’t any problems with spectral dnc. Hair is growing fast but I do not have much new hair (but being 20 years almost bald).
spectral dnc sucks, im young and tried it out and im not even balding, yet after i used it.. it destroyed my hair.. it does not work, its a scam as im sure any other balding product is.. now im losing hairs where i never was because of spectral
Greetings!…
Im also a pacient of heritaged baldness “thanks ancestors -_-”
I am currently in Spectral.. almost a month now, however i also used it before for a month but tried something esle and came back, therefore officially I have 2 month, but I only count one because I discontinued it… anyway I have High expectations in the formula I am currently experiencing the SHEDDING stage! which is scaring the Cr@p out of me, but I know I must endure, benefits will come eventually, how much time did your shedding lasted??

All this balding this is quite stressful… I see some woman names in this block… and amm according to the Sectral webpage Spectral isnt supposed to be used by women O_o anyway I am now 1.5 months with spectral, I;ve seen mininal shedding now, however i manly applied spectral in my frontal area, and now my crown area need this stuff as well, I guess and going again thru a second shedding :S
first off head shoulder’s is horrible for your hair!!! always find a shampoo that works to keep your scalp as clean and healthy as possible. Even when the cost is a little high, because for a male with short hair a little shampoo goes a long way. second don’t use products for balding when your not truly balding!!! and third if you only are balding in the front then you can possibly use spectral on only the front to limit the amount you use daily. Then your treatment will carry on further proving you keep your hair as healthy as possible…..no constant hat use, daily scalp massage, multi vitamin/b-complex/omega 3, some sort of regular DHT inhibitor weather it be saw palmetto, green tea, propecia or anything used everyday that you feel doesn’t effect your bodies working condition. experiment while also keeping track of your results and account balance!
I have been using spectral DNC for about 18 months now and I must admit that it does work. After a few months of using it I was about to stop and save my money but a friend commented about how it looked like my hair was growing back. I guess I didn’t really notice it because you see yourself everyday. It’s obviously not a cure to baldness but I am no longer losing any hair and over time it is growing back in areas that were once barren. Great product!
I dont have much money to start with but my hair is important to me. Im 19 and have been losing hair since the age of 16. Its been somewhat slow, and I say that because I am the only one who can really tell right now that I am truely balding but lately its been getting progressivly worse. Ive been on propeicia about a year. The back of my hair mid section back is thick as can be and seems to have improved after propeicia but the propecia has no effect on the mid forward for me. I have never used a topical treatment before so I bought Revivogen Shampoo and 5 month supply of DNC. First off i thought it was going to be so horrible applying this stuff twice a day. Its not. Second, my hair pretty much halted 2 weeks into it. Every single day since 16 i could count a number of hairs falling out each day. The most ive seen in the last 3 weeks (been using about 5 weeks) was about 2 at most and on most days NONE. Third, after a couple of weeks my hairline became cluttered in velus hair (wich is very visible with a flashlight in the dark.) Not to mention its a great styling aid and the strong soapy smell goes away within an hour. I love this stuff and hopefully after a couple of months my hair will thicking and my hairline will move up a little.
alright im at 2.5 months.
i quit propecia, i feel im to young and i want proper body hair and bone growth
the spectral is amazing. for 2 months ive had 0 fallout that i can notice my hairline is dense like it was over a year ago and best of all im not depressed!
dont waste money on anything that will screw up your chemistry
along with vitamins and nizoral 1% and Revivogen Shampoo thats all you will need to regrow and stop your hairloss.
i know how hours can get lost trying to find hope in testimonials and i hope this is enough to get someones face out of the computer and on the way to regrowth
What a weird bunch. At the end of the day, ‘Spectral DNC’ are selling the main component of minoxidil. The other chemicals are basically allowing the drug enter the skin. From what they are saying, sebum, prevents the efficiency of minoxidil to stimulate new hair growth.
Problem:- minoxidil does not work for all. Sometimes you will only obtain light fuzzy hair. Worse….you need to go through the dreading shredding phase. Alot of people are put off because of this and then simply quit. They think that the minoxidil causes this first and then regrowth.
At the end of the day it is ‘minoxidil’. You can either go for the 2% gel version, foam, liquid, and now this type. All have different preference on how the alcohol will irritate your scalp.
Now…… it works but will not always give you growth. This drug works at keeping hair but once you come off it, you will lose it. And…..rather quickly! Some people will (the lucky one’s) will get regrowth.
Problem- works best on everywhere except the temple. I greatly believe you require a much higher dose as this is the most stubborn part.
Anyway, this site is great. It is trying to get people to stay away from snake oil type of drugs that have ripping people off all these years.
Anyway………………….why-o-why did a 16 year old get recommended propecia?
Propecia works on keeping hair….brilliant stuff.
Ted,
Unless I’m reading it wrong, he’s 19 and has been on Propecia for a year… meaning he started at 18. At that age, puberty should’ve already been reached. The drug was studied on men as young as 18 and cleared safe.
