this may seem weird but i heard that excessive ejaculation from masturbating can cause MPB due to the elevated testosterone levels in your body. Is this a myth or is it a fact?
The original source of this rumor goes back to early American culture. The old wives’ tale states that excessive masturbation causes hair loss or hair to grow on the palms of the offending hand. None of this is true of course. Hair loss in men comes about because of:
- The presence of an inherited genetic defect
- The presence of testosterone
- Time
- Stress
If masturbating is causing you stress, it will accelerate your hair loss if you are genetically predisposed. For most men, masturbating relieves stress so I suspect that this activity will help more than it will hurt you.

It’s interesting how hair loss/masturbation is interpreted. It makes some sense, though. Not that hair loss is CAUSED by masturbating, of course. It could be a slight change in hormonal levels. For instance, a few weeks into taking Finasteride (”generic” Propecia), I could feel my body adjusting hormonally. My emotions were amplified, my skin got much more oily, my hair started to cycle faster (shedding), and my sex drive was insanely high. Had I not known what was going on, I could also make the hair loss/masturbation link.
And FYI, right now my sex drive is very low. Oily skin is not as great. The shedding is higher than normal, but seems to have decreased. I expect things will even out over time as my body adjusts to the Finasteride.
I’m nearing the 3 month mark! Hopefully within the next 2-3 months I’ll see how the “new” hair grows back in.
Greetings all, fantastic site……. i am a 26 year old guy from South Africa and i have been experiencing thinning of hair (not balding yet) just thinning for the past 2 years on the left side of my scalp only..the right side is thicker and fuller, while the left side (starting from my crown coming to the front and left side of the scalp) is sparse, thin and looks abit patchy. especialy after a short haircut, one can clearly see that the left and right side are uneven, as the right looks fuller and healthier…what could be causing this, and what can i do to get it thick and full again like the right side……has this anyhting to do with blood circulation etc…kindly advise
Absolutely, i am sure masturbation is related to hair loss. Also genetics. I started shaving my head very often to prevent hair loss to save my hair for the future. But unfortunately when i let my hair grow, i found it is still falling and the falling cannot be stopped. I never masturbated manually until i was 21. Before that i had only natural maturbation, ie ejaculating while sleeping. It started when i was 16 or so. Initially it was coming out once in two or three months. Then as i happened to age, it started increasing and the amount also drastically increased.
As this was happening, at around 18 years i started to loose plenty hair and thick hair started to grow on my chest, abdomen and on the back. Hair on the legs, which were thick before at 16, started to reduce. At around 20 years, most of the hairs have gone and the drying, itching of scalp was at its peak. Terrible damage to scalp accompanied by heavy hairfall. Also wrinkles started to appear on my forehead on either sides like zig zag lines and hair receded along. Same wrinkles on the back of the head where hair was thinning out. By 21 masturbation also was done manually and when it is done that way also natural masturbation did not stop.
At present my hair is all thinned out, i only go with natural maturbation, it occurs once in a week (i suppose it is due to reduced stress, ejaculation at night reduced) but still produces loads and loads of ejaculation, causing pain in the penis and scrotum. I suppose stopping completely this masturbation will stop aging, but still may lead to other severe side effects, but it is impossible to stop masturbating, it occurs naturally at sleep.
OK… so now you think that masturbating causes aging? So if you never masturbated, you could theoretically live forever, right? What else does masturbation cause– world hunger?

Sorry, but that site contains wrong information with no proof to back it up. It says, “Overdoing self-manipulation” — but how much is overdoing it? I guess a study would be helpful for that answer, but one does not exist because HAIR LOSS AND MASTURBATION ARE NOT CONNECTED.
