helloIam suffering from dandruff for the past 6 years.I used many drugs to cure it (nizoral, coaltar, salycilic acid)but of no use.iam not going to ask for any more drugs ,but i just want to know whether dandruff alone can cause baldness (excluding male pattern baldness).
one more thing I recently came to know that soybean can prevent prostrate cancer and male pattern baldness.does soybean do really prevent from pattern baldness.
Kindly clarify me….
Dandruff can not cause balding unless you pick at it and then you develop traction alopecia. People who pick at their flaking areas may have an obsessive disorder called trichotillomania. Balding and hair loss are usually genetic. Too many people are using drugs like you listed above that do little to address the dandruff (no ringworm is present in most people).
Prostate cancer prevention with Propecia has been documented in an authorative research paper (see: New England Journal of Medicine). There is also a lot of press on the value (good value) of dietary approaches to cancer prevention with soy. The story is not final yet, but a lot of promise is coming down the pike.

I saw your answer to a question regarding taking saw palmetto (and other alleged DHT blockers) and Propecia at the same time. You said the herbal supplement(s) might be binding to DHT receptors and preventing Propecia from binding, hence providing weaker DHT blockage. I don’t understand this. Shouldn’t taking another alleged DHT blocker be “icing on the cake”? ANd since we don’t know how tthese other DHT blockers work, how can we be sure of their result?
Also, can soy do anything to ease MPB?
Thanks for your time. Great blog!
