I am having a hair transplant tomorrow. I’m scared that when I wash my hair after I might pull the new hairs out. What will happen if I don’t touch my hair at all for 10 days after? No washing, sprays or anything. Thanks, love the site!
Good washing is critical to complete and rapid recovery. At NHI, we wash the patient’s scalp the very next day, because we do it professionally and thoroughly, and we can remove any scabbing. I teach the patient how to do this and insist on having the patient become expert enough to take charge so the recovery is quick — usually in a few days to a week most of the transplants can not be seen. Not washing your hair for 10 days will almost guarantee crusting and may potentiate complications like folliculitis.
