Hello and thanks so much to you and your colleagues for creating this wonderful resource.
I recently read an article about phase II results of a new experimental topical hair loss treatment called NEOSH101 by a company named Neosil. The study includes statistical results, but I am not sure how these results compare to those of mainstream solutions such as Finasteride. Assuming that the results are true, how does this treatment stack up?
Please see this link for the info: http://www.sys-con.com/read/319216.htm
If the link is dead please search for NEOSH101 in google to find the press release. Thanks
There’s some information at these 2 links:
- Baldiness - NEOSH101 Successful in Phase 2a Trial
- ClinicalTrials.gov - Efficacy Study of Topical NEOSH101 to Treat Male Pattern Hair Loss
This is a drug in early clinical trials. Time will be needed to see if its value is as significant as finasteride or minoxidil (this comparison with minoxidil is in process at this time). I am encouraged by such clinical research and hopeful that it will be better than minoxidil.

About this Neosh101 business….if its active ingredient is bone morphogenic protein…can’t I just get ahold of it and use it myself? I know of some labs that have it. Can I mix it into my minoxidil? I’m TIRED of waiting for science to come to my aid. If I wait any longer, I won’t have ANY hair!
where and when can the neosh101 be purchased, very excited and very interested. thanks
Hey everyone, I recently emailed Peplin about this product (early June 2009). This is the response I got:
“We are continuing to work on the basic science, but for the foreseeablefuture our clinical trials are on hold. We suggest that you check ourwebsite periodically to see if/when any of our NEOSH101 programs resume. In addition, http://www.clinicaltrials.gov will provide the latest informationon Peplin’s trials or any other trials in these indications.”
So… I think that’s a: ‘We’re gonna wait and see whether Follica’s treatment is succesful before we put anymore money into this product which was promising and certainly could challenge minoxidil but it isn’t quite a miracle cure like Follica’s treatment’.
Damn. We were so close to getting a good and more effective alternative to minoxidil (they completed the second stage trial with overwhelming good results) but it seems yet again that the bald men lose out to the money men.
