Hi Doc. I was taking 1mg/day of finasteride for 4 months until I started experiencing side effects. ED was the most noticable. I have been off it for about 6 months. I’m almost back to normal. Should the effects of the drug be gone by now? Since I liked the results I was receiving for my hairloss, would a smaller dose be possible?

You should not be having sexual side effects from Propecia (finasteride 1mg) beyond a few weeks of stopping it. Maybe you have ED (erectile dysfunction) and it is not related to Propecia. Viagra and other such drugs solve that problem well for most men. Propecia, although rarely producing ED, has more of an effect on libido (desire to have sex). Performance may be a different issue. You might consider seeing a urologist about the ED.
