hi i was wondering if its possible that an 18 year old woman can develop the female pattern baldness at the age of 18 and with no history of family baldness.thank you
Although anything is possible, it is rare to occur at such a young age, but it does happen. If you are losing hair and suspect that there is something wrong, you should see a medical doctor for any health realted issues that may be causing your hair loss. (most common cause of hair loss in women is a medical condition) as hair loss may be sign of other underlying health issues.

Although many studies show that baldness usually occurs due to a medical issue, some cases are different, at the age of 15 i started having severe hairloss, after going to the doctors and dermatologists, nothing was wrong with my health…..i am now 18 and almost completely bald, i have been trying everything their is but nothing has yet worked… i just think its incredible how in this country they have not yet found a solution for this.
I’m an 18 year old female and have lost an excessive amount of hair within the past few years…ever since I began menstruating I saw gradual loss in hair but now I can literally see my scalp. I’m currently in an inauspicious predicament where I can comb my hair only one way to avoid exposure. My dermatologist traced it to the familial reason, it’s hereditary and exacerbated for the newer generations.
Having hair loss has caused me a lot of stress and emotional problems during my adolescence and even now. Friends constantly remind me of my hair…it’s simply unavoidable and I’m trying not to break down inside every time someone mentions my hair loss. There’s so little that can be done…if only the FDA approved of Propecia or Proscar for women… I don’t have a job and my parents refuse to buy my rogaine…
