Hi Dr Rassman, You stated in a previous response that beta blockers can cause hair loss. Can a low dose of propanolol, 10mg bid, accelerate hair loss? The package insert does not mention this as a possible side effect. Thanks
Yes, propranolol can cause hair loss. See: PostGradMed.com - Hair loss

I’ve also been prescribed to take 20 mg propranolol recently for treatment of my hyperthyroidism together with 20 mg camazol per day. I noticed that I have been loosing lots of hair and my hair is thinning fast! Even after I stopped the propranolol for 3-4 days, the hair loss didn’t stop. I have been taking camazol before this and never had such problem. It all started when I stopped my medication for 1.5 weeks due to leaving my meds behind on a company trip. Would taking sugar free gum (habit) together with this meds accelerate the hair loss?
My 6yro daughter Alexis has been on 20mgs of propanolol for her whole life. Just recently, she started losing clumps of hair at an alarming rate! My baby has half the hair volume that she usually has. After her bath, I have to clean out the drain because it’s clogged with her hair. I’m afraid to brush her hair because of the amount of hair that collects in the brush.I’m extremely concerned, anyone else with this problem?
