This is not an atypical response to Propecia on a man in his mid-thirties with a great deal of miniaturization throughout the top and crown. Click and enlarge the photografts and you can easily see the change in miniaturization on a macroscopic view.
The photo on the left is before taking Propecia; the photo on the right is after 13 months of daily Propecia (finasteride 1mg) use. Click the photos to enlarge.

There you have it folks! PROOF that finasteride effects the front of the sclap, and not only the crown. the only reason they cant say that it effects the entire head is because there studies were not of the entire sclap. A study of the entire scalp would be way too hard to control.
Proof? We’ve always known this haven’t we?
It’s just that it’s *less likely* to improve the front than the crown, that’s all, but that doesn’t mean a small lucky percentage of people will have overall improvement.
Nothing new here…
Typo…
I meant to say “but that doesn’t mean a small lucky percentage of people won’t have overall improvement.”
I dont think you know what you are talking about James. The studies for both rogaine and propecia were conducted on just the crown areas of the scalp. Additionaly if you read either of the labels, you will note that it is only intended to work on the crown. I was simply pointing out that the only reason it is not intended for the front, is most likely because they cant make those claims because they could not conduct studies, studying the whole scalp.
