Does finasteride 1mg daily cause osteopenia/ osteoporosis?
In May 2002, The Journal of Urology published an article titled, “The Long-Term Effect Of Specific Type II 5α-Reductase Inhibition With Finasteride on Bone Mineral Density in Men: Results of a 4-Year Placebo Controlled Trial“. In this study, the authors studied the effects of 5mg of finasteride. They concluded that the “data demonstrate that long-term inhibition of type II 5α-reductase with finasteride does not adversely affect bone mineral density.”
I would suspect that 1mg of finasteride would have the same result.
