Dr. Rassman, I read your blog daily and appreciate all the information you provide to hairloss sufferers.ok, so 3 years ago I lost a large patch of hair from my chin, over the next 2 months it grew back stark white. I had to dye it with “justformen” for a year, finally it has began to grow in black. I feel this occurred form stress. is there a name for a condition such as this?
This is the first time I’ve heard of a case like this, so unfortunately I don’t have any experience to base any conclusions. Discuss this with your dermatologist.

the same thing has happened to me. im male 37 and educated. due to a divorce i became very stressed. ive always looked too young for my age. even at 37 i pass for early 20s. some of my chin hair just singular odd one or two has gone white. ive been a little vain and plucked them. the doctor my GP said it will pass over a long period. ive ended up on lexapro antidepressant since then and that makes a big difference to your sanity anti depressants. glad to hear the other persons hair returned to normal. ill just wait the time.
I’m a brown haired 27 year old, or at least I was. A small white patch sprouted from my chin over the winter, and after two months suddenly disappeared. About 4-5 months later, two proportionate white patches sprouted from my chin. The patches were perfectly symmetrical on the left and right of my chin, almost diabolic and stark white. I’m hoping it turns dark again, although after a few days I shave, so it doesn’t really bother me. What bothers me is that I am stumped for why occurs, but in the meantime I am considering charging people admission to watch it grow. I was thinking it was either A) I lost pigment, and I am naturally getting older, B) due to stress, I work a lot, or C) I had some sort of chemical on my thumb and index finger and rubbed them into my chin (the least likely) at a time I was in deep thought like the Auguste Rodin sculpture “The Thinker,” only he was using his knuckles.
I am 36 years of age and have noticed four circular patches of white hair on my chin after I shaved off my gotee. Scared me to see this just after a shave. I have been stressed over finances very bad lately, and a whole list of other things. Do no take any meds for anything. So why is this happening to me and the others just on our chin?? Why not on our heads?? I have full, really thick light brown hair ,but no white patches any place else on my boby??
