Doc,
Is there a possibility that a Hepatitis B vaccine may cause hairloss? I am due this jab very soon (actually it will be 3 shots over 6 months) and i’m worried as i’ve read about some people who have started balding after having this vaccine. Any thoughts? Thank you.
Yes, though it is very rare. The Center for Disease Control says, “For example, recent studies suggest that alopecia (hair loss) may rarely occur in persons who have received hepatitis B vaccine. While the mechanisms responsible for alopecia following vaccination are not certain, it could be immune-mediated.”
The most common cause in men is genes, and I don’t think you should be worried about losing hair from the vaccine.

I received the 3 shot series of Hep B vaccine when I was 12 and I subsequently experienced severe hair loss. Although this is supposedly rare, I have read many people’s stories online who claim to have lost hair due to this vaccination. Because of this, I advise anyone to not take this vaccination as the hair will not grow back, and if it does, it does not grow back normally. I experienced universal hair loss and it seemed as though my entire body changed due to this. Please advise those you know not to get it. Best of luck
my daughter started looseing hair after recieveing the vaccination. At first it was a little hair on her head and some of her eye brow and eyelashes. Now 3 1/2 years later she is completely bald.
