my husband has recently experienced sudden hair loss.he had a thick full head of hair and within 2 weeks he is almost completely bald.he was hospitalized for a few days and they ran several tests, everything i could think of.nothing has shown up so far.there is no history of baldness in either side of his family.he has a follow up appt with his doctor and an appt with a dermatologist but i would appreciate any other help.thank you!!!
It sounds like he has developed an acute telogen effluvium (hair went into its sleep phase) and it should reverse in a matter of weeks or months. See a good dermatologist to be sure, but I do not know of anything other than this that would make such a radical change. See this excellent article at eMedicine for more about TE — Telogen Effluvium.
