I recently increased my dose for three days to 2mg a day before returning to 1mg propecia. This was due to only being able to get Proscar and bad cutting on my part. Three weeks later I am shedding a lot of hair after six years on propecia with no problems, should I up my propecia dose or just continue on 1mg? Do you know why this happened and will the lost hairs return?

Getting very anxious and your site is the only one I can find that seems to offer real information by experts.

I don’t think that 2mg a day for 3 days will cause the loss you’re seeing now, and it might just be a coincidence. I couldn’t say whether the hairs will return or what the cause even is. To answer your question blindly would just guess work on my part. You need to meet with the doctor who prescribed you the Propecia (finasteride 1mg) and get his/her take, as that doctor will be more familiar with your medical history. If I were your doctor, I would examine your scalp for miniaturization and compare it with baselines I would have taken in the past to compare the degree of loss.
