Hi Doctor, I’m a finasteride user from past 3-4 months and have seen little effect and my hair loss has been arrested. A week back i did a head shave and small hair follicles are coming out now. I see more number of small patches where hairs follicles are not coming out. Its just plain and no hair follicles are noticed(covering region occupying 3-4 follicles). I have/had thinning hair in my frontal region and also in the crown. When my hair were lengthy i could not recognize these small patches and now when i did the head shave i can see lot of small patches in my frontal region and few more in the sides. Could you please tell me what is this and How can i control and grow back my hair in those regions ?

I have no idea what you mean my small patches or where exactly the patches are occurring. If it is only a week since you shaved your head, wait at least 30 more day and see what it looks like. I cannot diagnose you or examine you this way. Propecia does not cause bald patches, so I can assume something else is going on here. My recommendation is to follow up with the doctor who prescribed you Propecia and discuss your concerns with him/her.
