Hey Doc Thank you in advance for such an informative sight. I found this excerpt from a web page concerning shedding from propecia. I was wondering what was your take on it as I have experienced a considerbale shed within 4 weeks of starting propecia. The hairs come from not just the balding areas but from the back and sides as well. Just curious as to your assumptions.
I have heard that in some patients, there is a period of increased shedding after starting Propecia, but this will stop within a few months in almost every one experiencing the problem. Some doctors believe that Propecia increases the cycling of hair, but I have no way to ascertain if this is the cause or not.

I have had the same experience, been on proscar cut into quaters for just over a month and hair is falling out at an increased rate from all over the head. Just to let you know your not the only one. Noticed an increase in shedding approx 1 week into treatment. I am a NW 2
on proscar cut into quarters daily for 3 weeks (1.25mg finasteride):
-noticed today im shedding slightly more than past couple weeks
-i have also had mild testicular pain for a week, pain is not bad though im just scared that im doing damage to my system, if it’s just pain and that’s it then im not really bothered by it
-considering bic’ing my head which will be weird to people that have known me as always having long hair, i buzzed my head last week, it was a sad moment, i felt like i died and now i have a new life, it sux but i have had a couple girls tell me i look way better but i dont think they noticed my thinning on top, i hope the girls say the same when my head is bic’d, im 26 and single, i hope there is some girl out there that will settle for a baldy like me
i am hoping finasteride works for me but if not i can join my brother is bic’ing the head
