Do you think it’s safe to use “Dermenodex Scalp Cleansing Shampoo” a few weeks after a hair transplant?
I have no experience in the use of Dermenodex, but based on what I read in this thread at the HairLossHelp forums, I would not use it.

Dr. Rassman,
I read your blog everyday and I think it’s great. I have also submitted many questions which you have been kind enough to answer and publish. I have great respect for you and after I graduate from school, I am going to strongly consider making a trip to the west coast to see you for the transplant that is in my future.
With all that being said, I have to speak up here. What you just wrote really bothers me. I mean no disrespect, but I do feel the need to point out a great contradiction on your part.
You constantly tell people, and rightfully so, to ignore “forum opinions” about Propecia side effects, etc. But yet, here you tell a poster to not use a product because of what was said on the very same forums you tell people to ignore.
Dermenodex is a topical treatment with a companion shampoo and conditioner that contains a drug, adenosine, as the active ingredient. I don’t know if it works or not, but it is not just another vitamin or herbal-based formula.
I think it’s very unscholarly, on your part, to reference a forum as the reason to not use a product. I read the forum thread you linked. All I see are a bunch of people, with too much time on their hands, posting opinions about things that they are not qualified to do. People come on here looking for real advice from a doctor, not to read what a bunch of armchair, wannabe “researchers” have to say on a forum.
Since adenosine is a drug and is also a drug that has been studied for hair loss, surely you have better resources at your disposal to give an opinion than just a link to a meaningless thread in a forum.
No disrespect taken. You’re right. I’m not familiar with adenosine or Dermenodex, so I relied on a Google search. The forum post was really the only thing I could find that didn’t read like an advertisement disguised as a review.
Of course, I still feel people should do their own research and can try whatever products they want, but pointing to that forum thread was bad form on my part.
